Florida 2011 Post-Legislative Update (July 1, 2011)

This is an update of the news article dated March 2, 2011.  Eight legislative proposals affecting agricultural property owners were posted in the prior article.  HB 421 and SB 478 passed.  Senate bills 456, 1246, 940, and 270 did not pass.  The Legislative override of Governor Crist’s veto of 2010 HB 7103 ended further consideration of SB 858, which was identical.  SB 606 did not pass, but essentially was incorporated with HB 7215 (below).

Language was quietly added to HB 7215 (the Department of Agriculture & Consumer Service’s bill), near the conclusion of session, changing FS 193.461(5).  The underlined language was added to the last part of the paragraph: “...and all forms of farm products as defined in s. 823.14(3) and farm production.”  The bill also included the fertilizer regulations proposals in SB 606.
