Florida 2009 Legislative Proposals

It’s that time again.  With the current economy, budget shortfalls, etc, this session promises to be busy and intense.  We reviewed the Senate (flsenate.gov) and House (myfloridahouse.gov) websites and found no pre-filed bills to date which appear to directly affect agricultural property or the Greenbelt classification.

We found 4 Agriculture shell (no details other than intent) bills, 1 DOACS shell bill, and 2 property tax shell bills.  Several additional pre-filed bills address property taxes, including:  Homestead Exemption limitations, property inspections, confidential information, presumption of correctness/burden of proof, working waterfronts, extenuating circumstances, appraisal criteria, deed restricted properties, market rent, etc., plus a joint resolution for a constitutional amendment limiting the aggregate ad valorem tax (millage).  The bills (1/28/2009) are:  S1006, S358, SJR738, S304, S464, H179, H521, H101, H105, and H385.
